Help Families Navigate Pet Loss, One Little Heart at a Time
Pet loss is often a child’s first experience with death. Benny Misses Daisy is a gentle coloring story your practice can offer families, so your care reaches them and their children after they leave your office.

The book
What is Benny Misses Daisy?
Benny Misses Daisy: A Coloring Story About Love, Loss, and Remembering is a 55-page coloring and activity book for children ages 5 to 8. It follows Benny, a young golden pup, and Emma, their girl, as they miss Daisy, an older golden dog who has died.
The story is honest and plain. Benny looks for Daisy in all her favorite places, and Emma cries because she misses her too. With help from a grown-up who listens, they talk about Daisy, make a memory box, take walks again and plant flowers. Sadness and joy can both be part of a day.
Throughout the book, children color, draw and write. They answer prompts like “What does sadness feel like to you?”, “Draw a happy memory inside this frame” and “Fill this heart with happy memories.”

Why it matters
How does pet loss affect young children?
Losing a pet can bring sadness, confusion, anger and questions that are not easy to answer. Children do not always have the words for what they feel. Sometimes drawing, coloring, storytelling or simply spending time together helps them express emotions in ways that talking alone cannot.
Every child grieves differently. Some want to talk, others would rather color quietly, and some ask the same questions again and again. All of that can be part of grieving. The goal is not to make sadness disappear. It is to help children recognize their feelings and know that love and memories stay with them.
For your practice
How can this book support your veterinary practice?
Your team already gives families compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement support. Benny Misses Daisy is a small, tangible way to extend that care to the youngest members of the family.

Questions from veterinary practices
Is Benny Misses Daisy age appropriate for young children?
It is written for children ages 5 to 8. The story says plainly that Daisy died and everyone missed her, and it stays gentle. We suggest a grown-up read it first and then read it aloud with the child.
Is the book only for families who have lost a pet?
No. The story is about a dog, but the feelings are universal, so children can also use it after losing a family member or someone else they love. That makes it useful to keep on hand for any family that is grieving.
How can a practice use the book with families?
Practices can include a copy in aftercare packages, keep copies in a family resource library or waiting room, mention it when a parent asks how to talk with a child about a pet's death, or recommend it in a follow-up note to a grieving family. You can use it in whichever of these ways fits your practice.
Is there a quantity discount?
Organizational pricing for larger orders is available. We do not publish a price list because pricing depends on the quantity and shipping. Tell us roughly how many copies you need in the inquiry form and we will send you a quote.
How does shipping work for bulk orders?
Single copies from Amazon or Etsy ship under those stores' terms. For organizational orders, we confirm shipping cost and timing in your quote before you commit to anything.
Can the book be customized for our practice?
Tell us what you have in mind in the inquiry form. We have not set up customization options yet, so we will tell you honestly what is possible. The book itself, including its story and illustrations, stays the same.
Can we get a sample copy before ordering?
Yes, you can ask for one. Choose Request a Sample Copy in the form and add your practice's mailing address in the intended use box. We will reply to confirm.
Does the book replace professional grief support?
No. Benny Misses Daisy opens conversations and gives children a way to express feelings through coloring, drawing and writing, but it is not a substitute for individualized mental health care. It is meant to complement the compassionate support your team already gives.
